The following papers from M tech Computational Linguistics are presented in the IEEE ICCC 2013 - International Conference on Control, Communication and Computing conference, which was held on december 13-15 2013.
  • "An Effective Malayalam Information Retrieval System Using Query Expansion" by O.K Reshma,  Sreejith C
  • "LALITHA: A Light Weight Malayalam Stemmer Using Suffix Stripping Method" by Prajitha U ,  Sreejith C
  • "STHREE: Stemmer for Malayalam Using Three Pass Algorithm" by Pragisha
 
The conference was held at Hotel Residency Tower Trivandrum in parallel sessions. A technical exhibition and tutorial sessions are also envisaged along with the conference.

IEEE Kerala Section was the technical co-sponsor for this conference and all the papers presented at the conference will be published through IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Workshop on Multilingual Computing



Mtech Computational Linguistics, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, Government Engineering College Sreekrishnapuram organized an one day workshop on " Multilingual Computing " ( sponsored by TEQIP Phase 2) in association with Swathanthra Malayalam Computing (SMC )  on October 7 2013. The purpose of the workshop was to get familiarized with various challenges and issues related to language engineering and computing. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. P C Reghu Raj , Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Santhosh Thottingal, Senior Software Engineer at Language Engineering team Wikimedia Foundation and project admin of SMC. Mr. Santhosh presented the need for greater emphasis on software localization and need of multilingual computing systems. He also illustrated various tools and projects related to Malayalam Computing. Later Mr Robert  introduced the basics of  Natural language programming and Mr Manu took a session on Semantic Web. The workshop was attended by more than 70 participants.

CLEAR Birthday & ONAM Celebration 2013






SIMPLE groups celebrated the first birthday of CLEAR along with Onam celebration on 11th September 2013. As a part of the celebration the fifth issue of CLEAR magazine was released by the Chief Editor of CLEAR Dr. P.C.Reghuraj (Professor and Head of Dept. of CSE). The birthday edition release was followed by a delicious 'ONASADYA' as a part of ONAM celebration.

CLEAR-Sep-2013: Published


The fifth issue of CLEAR published on September 12, 2013. With this issue CLEAR celebrates its first b'day. This issue discusses a new method for automatic headline generation , NLP and Semantic Web for Competitive intelligence, Statistical NLP Toolkits, PRISM, ScalaNLP ,  and on farewell party of 2011-13 batch.  The next issue will be on Dec 2013.
